I had the honor of volunteering at the UT Concho Community Garden. I along with my mentees were in charge of helping clean the community garden. We picked weeds from the ground, added water and soil to the plants, and plotted new plants.
It was an extremely different type of event. I have never done yard work, so this was a completely new experience to me as I was removing and pulling out weeds from the ground. I also learned a little bit about the compost work.
It was great to go to the Concho Garden again with my mentoring group since it was a way to get their hours done as well that it was a way to get to know more each other. We did weeding around plots of lands that were already planted. While doing this, I took this time to actually interact with my men-tee and get to know her more.
