I volunteered for SureWalk and walked people home in the evening starting at 10PM. Along with another volunteer, we would walk other students home whenever they requested a walk and then walk back to Jester to wait for more requests. Sometimes we would either get calls to walk to a certain location to find the caller and then walk that person to their destination.

I went with a group of people to Paredes Middle School where I participated in their after school tutoring program. I tutored two students in basic pre algebraic concepts such as dividing with decimals and calculating the constant rate of change

Along with other APO brothers, we stayed in the UTC putting together supplies for the event "Merit Badge University" where a bunch of boy scouts of America came and attended classes in order to get merit badges. The evening consisted of organized various materials for the various classes, and making sure that each troop packet contained the right directions to the different classrooms, a meal ticket for every scout, and a drink ticket.

I helped people with the Be the Match Foundation in creating and organizing the pamphlets, envelopes and stickers on Sunday February 14, 2015 from 1 PM to 2 PM. The other volunteers and I routinely took out labels, posted them onto a booklet, then onto an enveloped and then onto the folder containing the cotton swabs. For the last action, we would put labels on the clean cotton swabs then put all the materials together and get started on the next.

AFSSA Volunteer Orientation

Attending AFSSA was such a great experience, just getting to know that a program to help Asian families with such a wide variety of services such as domestic violence to financial troubles is such a wonderful thing to know. The orientation was an info session that explained all the services that the organization provides as well as the different types of people that would be in need of such services. They had also explained that to be a volunteer in some of their more involved services, I would have to attend additional volunteer training, but since I would be unable to make the time commitment due to being a student, they would just alert me to volunteer events happening in the university that I may be able to be a part of.

Joseph @ ECE Open House

It was the Electrical and Computer Engineering Open House at the Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin in the GDC building. I had arrived to help either set up for the event or by helping professors as needed as the open house was going on. The professors gave freshmen and sophomores information about what type of technical core he or she would be interested in and would call upon a volunteer to either help set up, or to give advice (assuming the volunteers were second or third years in the electrical engineering field). I had attended and listened to the lectures by Professor Valvano and then had went into each of the event classrooms to aid any professor in assistance.
Sarah Shields was the organizer of this event, her office phone number is (512) 471-1851 and her email is
