I volunteered for Longhorn Halloween. We were set up to have the children toss a bean bag and into our pumpkin shaped toss. The kids really enjoyed it.
I volunteered with my sorority sisters in this program that we created called Doves Achieving Success. This program is meant to mentor young girls from ages 10-14 with topics such as school, leadership, and teamwork.
I volunteered for Project 2016, a huge, annual volunteering project that UT organizations participate in to better the community. I chose to go to a church and helped rake leaves, repainted the parking lot and helped sand the play ground.
My sorority sisters and I volunteered for a non-profit organization called the Green Corn Project. This organization plants gardens at homes in the Austin area. We first helped build a garden in East Austin for a UT staff lady. We planted cilantro, carrots, etc. After we were done, we headed over to an apartment building that serves for needy families. We also helped to plant similar vegetables for their community.
I volunteered with my organization, ALPFA, at the Boys and Girls Club in Austin. My group has the task of painting tables and benches for the kids to use later that day.
I volunteered with the SHARE program here at UT. The event was called Longhorn Saturday where prospective students visit UT with their families in hope to attend UT next fall. My part of the event was to guide parents to certain buildings where programs for certain colleges hosted their presentations.
