Thursday Workdays

I loved gardening before, but did so blindly. From this experience, I learned new gardening practices. Additionally, it was refreshing to take away experience that developed my perceptual view of the world. I not only learned about the “service” aspect in community service, but the community and people that were involved in it.

I made new friends within the Gateway Scholar's Program. It was an enjoyable and hard-working experience. I learned about the different kinds of plants: native species that we should not cut and dangerous plants that should be avoided. It taught me the value of team work, especially when we had to remove a fallen tree off the trail. Also, the event leaders and coordinators were nice and understandable.
