I helped pass out food for mainly the volunteers for this event. The kids who were still hungry went first. I made sure there were enough BBQ sandwiches on the table for everyone who was in line. I made sure everyone got 1 food item on the first round. For seconds they got as much as they wanted. I helped brake down as soon as everyone cleared out. I also helped refill water gallons using purified water. I loved helping out for this event.
As a ULN mentor I decided to organize a community service event for my small group. We all agreed on the date and planed to clean up Graffiti Park. I purchased the materials and planed the trip. We took the metro bus on campus to the park. We started from the top and then went to the bottom. We enjoyed the music and artist painting new murals on the walls.
We got the Elementary school ready for an art exhibit they were going to host. I was in the group in charge of decorating the fence with plastic cups. The school received a blue ribbon award and they wanted the neighborhood to know.So we used the cups and created something we were all proud of.
Project Hook-up is an opportunity for current students to reach out to prospective Longhorns via phone. Our goal is to get high school seniors excited about becoming a longhorn! This is a personal and unique way to talk with future longhorns.
