Starting in the month of September I have joined project males and have gone to tutor a group of kids in Mendez Middle School. Every Wednesday we go to Mendez Middle School to do activities and speak to them about the importance of attending college. The group of kids are black and Latino males that are being targeted by the school-to-Prison pipeline.
As a Fraternity we went to Perez Elementary and helped the staff there to renovate the school farm. The farm is there for the kids to enjoy but the issue was that it needed to be cleaned up and renovated. So thats what we did, we cleaned up the place and also added gardens throughout the farm.
We went to the Community Center as a fraternity to help parents of elementary school students fill out applications for the students to get tutoring in the center. We had to help because the applications were in English and most parents didn't know any Spanish.
