Participating this year's Biannual Waller Creek Clean Up gave me the opportunity to give back to the school. This experience reminds me on how we should be mindful of how we dispose our waste, and reinforce my appreciation for the outdoors.
Be The Change: Food Recovery Helper was an amazing opportunity. I firmly believe that healthy foods should be accessible and affordable to everyone, and this event helps me engage in providing healthy foods to the public. This event also helped me better understand that there are many diverse communities here in Austin, and I was able to connect with the local I volunteered for.
"Project 2016: Gus Garcia Community Garden" was a wonderful experience for me. I've always liked the idea of gardening, and what better way to have a hands-on experience in gardening than also benefiting the community? This event allowed me to better the city of Austin in a way that I enjoy.
"Project Work Day - Concho Community Garden" another event that associate gardening and volunteer work. I enjoy working in a garden and also benefitting the community.
I was able to make my campus a cleaner place by participating in UT's biannual Waller Creek Cleanup. This experience helps me understand the importance of responsibility for one's trash in making sure it ends up in a proper place.
"Be the Change" volunteer event was an amazing experience. This was an opportunity to be active in a cause of someone I view as an idol. Ghandi was commemorated on this event, and it showed the community that if they want change, then they would have to become that change. I can say that by participating in this event improved my sense of community-building.
It was a great experience, seeing the innovative engineering ideas that could possibly benefit society.
