On April 5th, I was able to volunteer in the literacy lab. During literacy lab, kindergarteners, 1st graders, and 2nd graders are able to work at different stations. One station being games, a few stations being on the computers, etc. I helped keep the children working, answered any questions they had, and also helped individual students read. I was able to help the students that needed extra one-on-one time that they may not have had with only two teachers available.
At Northside Elementary, I was greeted with compassion and excitement. I was allowed to assist a teacher during Math, and prepare the students for their yearly educational assessment administered by the state. During the three class rotations, I walked around the classroom and answered students and/or made sure they were on the right path in solving assigned problems.
