I helped clear out the invasive plant ligustrum at walnut creek park. We pulled up all of them that we could and the ones that were too big, we took a chunk out of the bark in order to starve the top half of the tree. Good old fashioned hard labor, it was good for the soul.
I helped second graders with their homework. I helped a little girl with her math homework for the first part of the shift and then I helped another little girl with the same homework sheet until homework time was over.
I helped a family friend during a rebuild of a porch. I enjoyed the experience and learning some carpentry skills was awesome. I helped mainly by screwing some boards to the front top part of the roof frame of the porch and then by climbing on top of the metal sheets on the roof of the porch and screwing down the sheet metal. I also helped the main carpenter present anytime he needed assistance.
Helped a member of the church (Richard Stimpert) install a new projector and two speakers. Had a great time doing all of this and was able to expand my knowledge of electronics and practice my handyman skills. It was great to do something nice for the church too!
I helped with Moov-In on the southside of Jester with fellow SAC staff. I held the door and greeted the many incoming freshmen as they brought all of their stuff into the dorm. I had a great time doing this and would happily do it again.
Went through constructive hard labor. Weeded and created a new flowerbed and planted more flowers.
Built form so that the garden could have more space to plant.
Helped time the races at the UT v. TCU swim meet. Was a fun experience and learned more about the swim program.
It was great to create a safe environment and improve everyone's experience by working as a trail guide. Only downfall was standing the whole time, overall a great experience though!
I really enjoyed help everyone have a good time at the trail of lights. Not to mention the trail itself was absolutely amazing. Only downfall was the standing for such a long time. Although it was all worth it to make everyone's experience better.
