I got to volunteer at a local charity in East Austin. It felt nice to able to give back to the community, however there were few volunteers. The staff and the other volunteers were great. I liked that they had music playing and occasionally checked up on me.
This semester, once a week, I have been volunteering at Travis High School with Project M.A.L.E.S. There, I mentor 3 students. I have been giving them advice with college prep ideas, resumes, looking for a job, and other things relating to their future college career.
Making the care packages with other members of ULN was great! I got to see a lot of people I had not seen the whole semester.
Unfortunately, what I was a bit disappointed at was that supplies ran out too quick. Eventually some care packages were made with multiples of the same supplies. Nevertheless, at least some packages were made.
From late September to late December, I volunteered every Tuesday with Project M.A.L.E.S. to mentor high school students at Travis High School.
I helped my student with college research, homework, and gave him advice about post-high school and college.
It was a nice experience participating in this and writing letted to our troops!
