I volunteered at a Thanksgiving event at the Chinese Community Center. The children put on a play that I helped with backstage (helping them out on clothes and makeup). I also played and read with the children after the play. I was also able to serve food behind the counter to people once dinner started. The person that was charge of this event is Ms. Danmin.
Helped students/children get ready for a Chinese New Year event by teaching them dances and practicing them as well as reading old Chinese legends and playing games with the children. I also helped make costumes for the event.
I volunteered at a Thanksgiving event at the Chinese Community Center. I was able to serve food to people and then I was given the opportunity to read to the children and play games with them. The person that was charge of this event is Danmin Lin.
I worked the first shift (8:30 am-12:30 pm) and the third shift (2:30 pm-5:30 pm) for this event.
During the first shift I was in the welcoming committee where we would get on buses and greet the students, give a little speech and hand the adults maps.
During the third shift I was working in a booth where students and kids could come up and make cards, cutouts, shields, etc. whatever they felt like. I also was on clean up for this shift.
Overall, it was really fun to interact with people especially ones that you know are looking up to you.
