It was an amazing experience! The organization, as the event was in progress, is extremely well developed. They have been around for more then 5 years, and are spread across the country. This chapter, Texas NORML (National Organization of Re-legalization Marijuana Laws), job duties for this volunteer event consist of signing up people to vote. Which I thought was pretty awesome considering I thought I was there to sell shirts and pens, etc. It is by far the best volunteer organization that I have participated in. 100% recommend this organization to those who support medicinal marijuana.
I assisted with other ULN students logging in other UT students into the career fair system. It was such a well organized event. Actually, this year's career fair was much more organized and many more companies came out than last year's. It's an event that I would love to do again.
I assisted with watering the garden beds. As well as preparing and doing the foundation groundwork of the garden beds. We had to shovel off ground grass, place cardboard pieces on to ground of floor (to prevent grass from growing, which is alternative method than using pesticides), and the covering it with ground soil. It was a lovely experience. I hope to one day have enough time to go out there and plant something. I would definitely volunteer again.
I was in charge of greeting people into the ball/ directing them to the event.
I was in charge of the food from behalf of DS and university leadership network. Thanks.
A group of maybe 6, including myself, went to the RLM building and turned off classroom lights that were left turned on, such as computer monitors, computer projectors, and hall-lights.
