Event DescriptionA lot goes into maintaining a farm, even a microfarm. Volunteers can expect to help with a range of tasks, including planting, harvesting, composting, weeding, mulching, beautification, and more. Volunteer work at the farm helps support our mission of being an educational community resource. Sessions are about 75% volunteer work and 25% education and discussion. In addition to farm work, we’ll spend some time showing you and your group around the farm and discussing issues relating to the quality, justice, and biology of food.

Bring s
unscreen, closed-toed shoes, a reusable water bottle and an open mind! We provide tools, gloves, mosquito spray and directions (and sometimes snacks too).

The farm is located at 2204 Leona Street (zip: 78722). Street parking is very limited, but there is a Longhorn Lot next to our site you can park in with any UT permit. Carpooling is a good idea. The East Campus (EC) shuttle will drops off at Comal and Manor, a block away from us (schedule here). The 18 will also stop near the farm (and it runs on Sunday mornings).

Check our Facebook page if the weather looks questionable. We post all scheduling changes/updates there. If you need to cancel a group reservation, please email microfarm@utenvironment.org no less than a week in advance.

This information and more can be found on our website.
