I volunteered for the ENCORE Program hosted at Webb Early College Prep Academy. I am part of the UT Academic Counselors Association and we provided volunteer hours to serve food to the families who who were attended the conference that day.
This is my third time doing the event and is one of my favorite volunteer opportunities. Because I work at a university, the mission of ENCORE and the mission of my organization are similar and I love knowing that we are actively providing services in middle school that allow students to know that higher education can be obtained.
I volunteered with an organization called Feed My People. It's a Christian organization that serves food to homeless people at 5 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I got to perform various tasks including food preparation and serving, cleaning, and greeting. It was a good way to start the day and a rewarding experience. It was three hours and I went three times.
My sorority paired up with another sorority to help raise money for the Circle of Sisterhood through a profit share with the Cold Cookie Co.
Getting to help the animals in the shelter was a good way to release stress and relax.
I volunteered at the animal shelter with my sisters. We had a good time walking dogs, cleaning dishes and towels, and picking up their kennels. I was surprised it wasn't busier there since it's a holiday weekend.
I supervised a group of children at Legacy Ranch, a foster care service. We played games outdoors, did arts and crafts and watched a movie.
It was nice to take people to safety.
