I helped the American Society of Civil Engineers raise money by helping sell food during lunch hours. The work included setting up the booth, preparing food, selling, and tearing down.

Volunteered at the Zavala Elementary School to build a rain garden. This was a lot of fun and it was great putting in some good old hard labor with my peers.

I really enjoyed my day at the Women in Engineering event at UT this past weekend. I think it was extremely beneficial for the young girls to see women in college and women in the work force that are in the engineering field. I would have liked the UT students from ASCE to have welcomed and introduced us to the group of girls and parents when giving their presentation. Because we were not introduced as representatives of Fluor, the children and parents did not know who we were so the benefit of having real engineers there in addition to students in engineering was lost. Also, when checking in before walking to our designated classroom, we asked the lady registering people to confirm our building location to ensure we would be heading in the right direction. Her response to us was "wherever they told you to go". The fact that we traveled almost 3 hours to visit UT, I would have liked to have had a bit of a warmer welcome. Another suggestion would be to reserve a room for company representatives to congregate and possibly offer coffee, snacks, water, etc. I think overall it was a great event.

I volunteered with the 2015 Texas-Mexico Regional Steel Bridge Competition held by the American Society of Civil Engineers. I helped by picking up and serving food, taping floors for the competition, guiding people, and cleaning up after the event was over.
