The City of Austin’s newest cultural facility is housed within the Parks and Recreation Department. This center represents a long-awaited dream for many in the community, and was made possible through an Austin voter-approved 2006 Bond Package for $5 million with a $750,000 investment from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration. Members of the local Asian American community contributed pro-bono services for the design. The center opened to the public on October 1, 2013.
Our purpose is to serve the greater community and we invite you to enjoy our spaces that are free and open to the public.
The mission of the Asian American Resource Center (AARC) is to provide spaces, services, resources, and programs through an Asian American Pacific Islander perspective. The vision is to empower Austin's diverse communities through cultural understanding and life-enhancing opportunities.
