We will follow up on work done for It's My Park Day–Fall in the woods between the park road and Tar Branch alongside the Northern Walnut Creek Trail. Here are a few of the options: • Plant a variety of flowering plants to benefit butterflies and bees—and native grasses, too. • Transplant native saplings to get them out of the path of future construction. • Cut dead ligustrum and pile it where needed to discourage off-trail traffic, prevent erosion, or both. • Girdle more ligustrums. • Uproot ligustrums that are small enough.
Requirement Details
We will be planting and transplanting small plants—no bigger than 1-gallon plants. It's always best to wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and sturdy shoes. As for a hat and sunscreen, consider the elements. Bring a refillable water bottle.
PerksGreat companionship, and the warm feeling you can get every time you visit the park from seeing the improvement you made. Oh, and a Gatorade when you're done!
