Choice Hospice offers several types of opportunities for volunteering along with the flexibility to donate as much or as little time as you want. Hospice volunteer duties vary from companionship, special projects, office, and bereavement. 

The most import requirement for hospice volunteering is a willingness to help. Our Volunteer Coordinator can work with you to find the right opportunity to fit your interests or skills. 

Regulations dictate that a hospice use volunteers in their program. 

Volunteers do no administer medications or perform any nursing duties. The following explains more about volunteer requirements and how to volunteer for Choice Hospice. 
  •  As a volunteer, you will report to the Volunteer Coordinator and/or agency Supervisor.
  • It is very import that we keep an accurate account of all time that you volunteer.-
  • Direct Patient Care Volunteers will receive 8-12 hours of orientation which includes 2-4 hours of direct patient contact. 
  • Administrative Support Volunteers will receive 3-6 hours of orientation in the office environment. 
Administrative Support Volunteer Duties and Responsibilities include: 
  • Providing indirect support to the patient and their families
  • Performing clerical duties in the hospice office
  • Assisting with fund raising functions
  • Special projects
  • Assisting with bereavement program by mailing letters, cards, making phone calls
  • Other functions as determined by IDT and family
  • Serving on committees
  • Public relations
