Arbor Day at Waller Creek

(Cancelled) was Friday, April 26th, 2019 from 10:00am to 12:00pm (CT)
This event has been cancelled.

UT Landscape Services invites the campus community to celebrate the university's observance of National Arbor Day on Friday, April 26, 2019 with a planting event in Waller Creek. The event will start at 10am and last until noon.

This event is part of our ongoing efforts to transform stretches of the creek that run through campus, improving the health, sustainability and safety of this riparian ecosystem by removing invasive species and planting natives in their place.

We need volunteers to help plant small containerized grasses, shrubs and trees in marked locations along the creek banks. These native species will replace the invasive species that were removed from this section of Waller Creek over the past few years. Come and participate in helping plant for however long you are available. Landscape Services will have light refreshments and snacks and FREE TREE SEEDLINGS for giveaway to good homes, as well as materials on tree planting and care.

This event is focused on engaging the UT student population to participate in a project related to trees, gathering together to celebrate trees and educating students about the many benefits trees provide to their community. This event supports the standards of the Arbor Day Foundation's Tree Campus USA program, which has designated The University of Texas at Austin as a Tree Campus USA for eleven consecutive years.
